    NETWORK-Lipolysis homepage relaunch completed

The huge amount of information on injection lipolysis therapy has made a further revision of our homepage necessary. This is also an opportunity to take stock of our work to date.

Since September 2003, over 150,000 people have visited our homepage to find out more about the injection therapy for dissolving zones of fat. Because of the sheer volume and partly unstructured nature of some of the published information, we have now had no alternative but to relaunch our homepage for the second time. At the same time, we have also taken advantage of this opportunity to change the external appearance of our website. The relaunch also presents an opportunity to take stock of our work to date. When, in September 2003, we started creating an open platform on which doctors interested in injection lipolysis could exchange views and information, we had simply no idea of what would grow out of these modest beginnings. In December 2003, the NETWORK-Lipolysis consisted of 3 members, and the place of injection lipolysis in the field of aesthetic medicine was strongly disputed. Through our continuous work and the vision of a NETWORK in which physicians from various specialisations could all contribute their expertise to a great pool, a worldwide movement was started which has ultimately resulted in a new, previously unknown minimal-invasive therapy becoming generally established.
As well as the establishment of therapy standards and the further development of the therapy itself, a process of application observation was initiated which, for the first time, provided reliable date on the outcomes and side-effects of the therapy, and also a training concept was put in place which has meanwhile been completed by over 700 physicians from a variety of disciplines.
So does this mean that the work of the NETWORK is done? I would say not; rather, a new phase is beginning, for which the relaunched homepage provides an excellent setting. With their membership fees, the members of the NETWORK-Lipolysis are paying for basic research which, hopefully, will finally provide us with a substantiated scientific explanation for our practical experience and will also allow our scientific hypotheses that have been developed on the basis of the publications to date to be either confirmed or refuted. We will report in detail in the near future on the numerous studies we have applied for and which in large part are being conducted in cooperation with universities.
Our aim is also to provide better information for patients about the possibilities and limits of this new therapy. Today’s trend away from surgical procedures to less stressful minimal-invasive therapies clearly indicates the heavy demand for this kind of treatment. It only remains for me now, therefore, to express my most sincere thanks to the publishers Dirk Brandl, Ulrich Bunzek and their team for all the work they have done, together with the hope that also the challenges of the future may be dealt with together and on the basis of the network idea.
