Lipolysis – background knowledge in review
The 1st International Symposium on Injection Lipolysis with high-class speakers
During the past 3 years, since the formation of the NETWORK-Lipolysis, injection lipolysis therapy has developed at enormous speed. Therefore, Dr. Gerhard Sattler of the Rosenpark Clinic in Darmstadt suggested that it might be appropriate if we took the trouble to document this development for a scientifically interested audience.
We gladly took up this suggestion and, at the Symposium, will present for the first time practically all the research projects and studies concerned with the subject of injection lipolysis.
The Symposium agenda therefore includes the results of research that has already been completed, as well as the intermediate results of studies that are still in progress and also the outlines of projects that have only just started.
And what other topics will the Symposium deal with?
An initial, provisional hypothesis will be presented by Dr. Ninian Peckitt, UK, on how lipolysis actually works. Dr. Hasengschwandtner will summarise the 3 years of practical experience gained with injection lipolysis. Dr. Bechara will report on a study into the treatment of lipomas, while Dr. Palmer and Dr. Duncan will present two large-scale statistical studies involving over 10,000 and 17,000 treatments. Dr. Weidmann will speak on his experience with the combination of various therapies for use on the face.
Dr. Young will provide initial information on the work towards obtaining FDA approval. And Prof. Nor El-Din, Cairo, will present his first results of a study into cellulitis treatment.
Finally, Dr. Prantl and his colleague Dr. Eisenmann-Klein will report on the first study being conducted at the University of Regensburg and present a complete outline of the project. Their report will be supplemented by a description of the new analysis possibilities offered by Dr. Blunk. And not least, we will cover the topic of which applications lipolysis can be ideally used for in two presentations by Dr. Sattler and Dr. Popp, which will both clearly define the optimum treatment regions of liposuction and lipolysis and also present the combination possibilities which are already in use.
It is also intended to hold a round table discussion to coordinate the study activities and identify new fields for studies.
